Resolute Abe

A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Abraham Lincoln spoke those words in 1858, years before the nation would test them in blood. When civil war came, Lincoln faced the defining crisis of the American experiment: whether a nation conceived in liberty could survive its own division.

Resolute Abe captures Lincoln not as the quiet figure carved into monuments, but as the leader who stood at the center of a country coming apart. The ruined landscape and divided flag echo the cost of disunion, while Lincoln stands where history placed him—between a fractured past and the uncertain survival of the Union.

Part of the A Force for Freedom and Unity collection, this design remembers a simple truth that has outlived the moment in which Lincoln first spoke it: a nation divided against itself cannot stand.
