John Hancock knew the stakes of American independence. As president of the Second Continental Congress, he became the first to sign the Declaration of Independence, placing his unmistakable signature prominently on a document that challenged the authority of the British Crown.
His name would become synonymous with the very act of signing, but the significance of that moment went far beyond ink and parchment. Hancock and his fellow signers publicly committed themselves to a cause whose failure could have cost them everything.
We figured a signature that bold deserved a more heavy-handed approach.
Heavy-Handed Hancock reimagines the famous Founding Father trading his quill for a considerably less subtle instrument of persuasion: a shotgun with a chainsaw attachment.
The weapon is fictional. The courage behind the Declaration was anything but.
It's a larger-than-life tribute to a man who helped put his name—and his future—on the line for American independence. And this time, his signature comes with a little extra firepower.
